We still have some places left on our build you own shave horse course coming up this September.
As Im sure most of you are aware, the shavehorse is the ultimate tool for green woodworking! It is one of the most useful, versatile and key green woodworking tools. once you have a drawknife and a shavehorse there is infinate possibilities of what you can make.
On this course you will learn multiple green wood working skills along the way. No previous woodworking or green woodworking expeience needed.
The course runs 11th and 12th September.
Participants will learn or hone lots of green woodworking skills including:
- Axing to carve out different parts.
- Using the Shavehorse and drawknife to create legs and the frame.
- Wood selection
- Using the polelathe to create the frame.
- Whittling skills to make frame pegs.
- Frame construction
The course is run in our woodland workshop in Monmouthshire near Usk and there is green camping for the two days for course participants.
All tools and materials are provided as well as tea, real coffee and biscuits.
You will go home with your very own Shavehorse and the skills to use it to make many different things!
Golden Hill Wood is a Woman run project to manage a 10 Acre woodland and share rural skills and crafts.
