Join artist and MFA student Lars Shimabukuro for an introduction to tapestry weaving using pocket-sized Hello Looms. Participants will learn how to warp a tapestry loom, beginning tapestry techniques, working with multiple colors, and how to make simple looms from everyday materials. The looms used by participants during the workshop will be theirs to keep, so the time allotted can be devoted to experimentation and play. After learning how to use the looms during part 1 of the workshops, participants will have a week to weave on their own. Participants will return for part 2 of the workshop to cover simple finishing and hanging techniques.
Part 1: weaving workshop: Saturday, November 1, 1pm-3pm
Part 2 (optional): finishing workshop: Saturday, November 8, 1pm-2pm
By signing up for this event, you are registering for part 1 and part 2 of the workshop. You must attend part 1 in order to attend part 2.
