Institute Description

The National Equity Project knows that leadership is required to create the conditions for durable change. How we lead change is the change. This one-day institute will address several barriers that leaders face in schools when leading and designing equitable learning environments, such as adult mindsets and conflicts, low expectations for students that hinder culturally responsive teaching, and the need for adaptive leadership approaches in districts that have been implementing equity-driven systems change work. If your school-based leadership team, district or educational agency has made a commitment to close opportunity gaps for students and improve student experiences and outcomes, this institute will help you advance your commitments and goals, by focusing on the adaptive and complexity-informed approaches that are effective in systems change.

This institute is best for teams from schools and departments to participate in together. This institute is relevant for anyone who has worked with NEP previously, or has been working with other organizations focused on improving equitable outcomes in your system.

Participants will:

  • Orient in the mental models and less visible aspects of systems change work that is challenging to address and identify new approaches.
  • Learn best practices in managing group dynamics and shifting the discourse when working with staff and colleagues.
  • Apply new tools and resources to aspects of implementation of your work that require more adaptive approaches

Accessibility

Participants will receive pre-reads and resources prior to the meeting via email. Please add ZXZlbnRzIHwgbmF0aW9uYWxlcXVpdHlwcm9qZWN0ICEgb3Jn to your contacts to ensure you receive course communications.

We are intensely focused on humanizing our spaces. We focus on interactivity and connection by providing frequent body breaks, and attending to learning, practice, and healing in community.

In an effort to create accessible spaces for everyone, we ask that participants refrain from wearing scented products such as perfume/colognes, hair products, cosmetics, and scented lotions while attending our event, as these products can trigger serious health issues for those with fragrance allergies and/or chemical sensitivities. For more information on being fragrance-free, visit this Fragrance Free Toolkit.

B y registering for this event, participants agree to the COVID-19 ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND LIABILITY WAIVER AND RELEASE OF CLAIMS and the National Equity Project In-Person Health & Safety Policy
