Purdue Extension Master Gardener Basic Training Enrollment Date

Join Purdue Extension for the 2026 Master Gardener Basic Training, a hands-on learning experience for anyone interested in horticulture, gardening, and community service. This 40-hour course runs Thursdays from February through May, from 12:00–3:00 PM, and features lessons led by local and state horticultural experts.

Participants will explore topics such as soil health, vegetable gardening, invasive species management, and fruit tree care using an in-depth textbook and practical demonstrations. The training is open to all—whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned gardener looking to deepen your knowledge.

The cost of the course, including the textbook, is $175, with discounts available for participants wishing to share materials. Classes will be held in Madison and surrounding horticulture venues.

Upon completing the course, graduates have the opportunity to join the local Master Gardener Association and put their skills to work through volunteer projects that enhance the community.
