About the Artists
Pawan Benjamin is a multifaceted artist whose career spans over fifteen years on the global stage. He has performed at prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and graced festivals including Newport and the Mondriaan Jazz Festival.
In New York, he has earned a reputation as a sought-after tenor saxophonist, bansuri flutist, and composer, effortlessly navigating traditional and modern settings. In 2018, he received the distinguished Van Lier Foundation Award for Asian American artists, and released his debut recording, Tinte Baja, as a tribute to his musical roots.
Kevin Carnes, a Detroit native and a founding force behind avant-garde ensembles such as The BeatNigs, the Afro-Jazz Trio, and the Broun Fellinis, brings an extraordinary blend of rhythmic innovation and genre-bending creativity.
As a highly sought-after studio musician and educator, Carnes has contributed analog and digital percussion to projects with luminaries like George Clinton (Parliament/Funkadelic), Bernie Worrell, Jerry Harrison, Michael Franti, and The Last Poets
