Rug makers, Quilters, and Fiber Artists of all kinds... are you thinking of your next masterpiece? Do you have trouble planning and drawing a good enough design? I'll be coming in person to teach a composition class for fiber artists based on my 'Design Like an Artist' classes and 2024 book of the same name.

The class is built on a slideshow during which we look at the work of iconic fine artists and Art Movements that have shaped our tastes. We talk about the tricks and tropes that make that style memorable and eternal, and learn how we can use similar tricks in our own designing. I will give you a series of prompts and challenges to get you thinking about color and composition, and you'll create sketches that really surprise you. The class fosters observation, conversation, and originality-- there's no point in creating art if your unique style doesn't come through. You will be supplied with sketchbooks and pencils (you don't need to bring anything at all) and you will leave with a sketchbook full of compositions you can evolve into future projects.
