I can't believe it's been 10 years, but here we are. Starting in 2015 at Scarlet Pub in New Brunswick NJ, booking different local and touring bands every Sunday and hosting an open mic every Wednesday. I wouldn't be where I am today without that opportunity and the ambition to bring new original music to new audiences.
I am so honored to have these bands on this show, who I consider to be NB bands since they got their start in New Brunswick and made lots of waves over there. I've booked them countless times and genuinely love them and their music. And of course I had to bring on a touring band from Brooklyn because why not?
I hope this show brings together anyone who was impacted by an Embrace DIY show and anyone who just appreciates good music. Let's have a little reunion, shall we? We're in a nostalgia era after all.
MANDANCING - A force to be reckoned with. They packed out every show I've seen them play from NB basements to dive bars to bigger stages. When they put out "Everyone Else" in 2018, I lost my sh*t. Still one of my favorite albums to this day. They haven't been playing shows for awhile until very recently and I hope they continue on this path because I love and miss them very much.
THE PLANET YOU - This band also turned heads with their abundance of energy on stage and odd time signatures. They aren't a band anymore, but I reached out to them and they agreed to reunite for a show! Fun fact: there is a video I put on my embracediynj FB page from 2016 that has over 5,000 views. Check it out here. Also peep this old Scarlet Pub video . LONG LIVE TPY.
FENCE - This band probably plays about once a year now, and they bring it EVERY SINGLE TIME. The room is always packed and lively and everyone is singing their songs. It's beauitful to see a band's journey from the beginning and I'm lucky to have been a small part of it. Thanks for always dedicating "Mourning Gown" to me. It's such a great song!
BOYSCOUTMARIE (Brooklyn, NY)- I have no history with this band, but I am very excited to bring them on this show. I absolutely loved their EP, boyscoutmariEP and I love helping out touring bands when I can.
