Mercer Singers, with guest conductor Stephen Darlington

Stephen Darlington, one of the United Kingdom's foremost choral conductors, joins Mercer Singers and director Stanley L. Roberts in a choral tour-de-force of time-honored anthems by British composers and contemporary sacred selections from composers around the world. This concert is free and open to the public!

Dr. Stephen Darlington, one of the United Kingdom’s leading choral conductors, will trace his extraordinary work editing, publishing, and recording the critical edition of Francesco Durante’s Requiem, written in the 18th century but never published. The formidable editing process began with the discovery of the manuscript and led to locating and researching available manuscripts in many different European libraries. It continued with constant decision-making, careful consideration of performance practice issues, and ultimately revealed the importance and our reliance on authoritative scores and the editors responsible for them.
