Macclesfield Stripe Dyeing and Weaving Course
Calling all creatives, experimenters and the curious! We are excited to have a 2 day course inspired by the iconic Macclesfield Stripe on Dyeing and Weaving planned.
Join Heritage Crafts 'Emerging Weaver of the Year' Finalist, Caitlin Binks and Natural Dye and Historical Textile Practitioner, Kirsteen McGregor for an exciting natural dye and weave workshop.
Over the course of 2 sessions you will learn to dye silk ribbons, weave them together on a frame loom and then hand stitch your unique cloth into a pouch or purse.
These workshops will be inspired by the iconic Macclesfield Stripe and will include exclusive viewings of the museums historic Macclesfield Stripe textile collection.
Session 1 – 21st March 11.00am – 2.00pm - Exclusive viewing of the Museums Macclesfield Stripe Collection and Dyeing Workshop.
Session 2 – 28th March 11.00am – 2.00pm – Frame Loom Weaving workshop (using your dyed fabric) and Construction of Purse workshop.
