A hands-on volunteering opportunity to help Ranger Roger maintain and improve the heathland habitat on the slopes of Tegg's Nose Country Park.
We'll be selectively 'bashing' areas of bracken with wooden stales to stop it from shading out the heather and bilberry. Work will include use of hand tools, full training and equipment will be provided.
Please note that the work site is on a steep slope which is only accessible by walking from the top of the park. This activity is physically challenging but there will be plenty of opportunities for breaks.
This work party will run from 10am-3pm and we will be meeting at Tegg's Nose Car Park.
Bring lunch and your own work gloves if you have them, and please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. Long trousers, long sleeves, and layers are recommended!
The session is outdoors so make sure you have waterproofs and sun protection as needed. Please also make sure you bring enough water and food to keep you going throughout the day.
