Seeds and Scones: A Walking and Biking River Restoration Tour

Get ready for a morning of babbling brooks, scrumptious scones, and fancy river restoration terms! Hop on the shuttle van or join us for a quick, scenic bike ride as we explore a stretch of the South St. Vrain that's typically closed to the public. We'll bike, walk, munch, and learn about two complimentary river restoration projects just upstream of Lyons, located downstream of a recent wildfire and greatly impacted by the 2013 flood. These projects are helping prepare human communities for fire, improve wildlife habitat, and reconnect rivers to dynamic floodplains.

Event details:

• Meet at Bohn Park in Lyons
• Total bike ride of 5 miles (~2.5 miles each way) over beginner-level trails and roads
• Shuttle available for anyone not biking

What to expect:

• A morning spent in nature learning about how humans are helping care for our rivers
• A close-up look at cool river restoration features
• Fresh coffee and local baked goods

What to bring:

• Helmet, bike lock, and bike in riding condition (if biking)
• Water bottle
• Hat/sunscreen/sunglasses
• Closed-toe shoes
• Appropriate layers for varying weather conditions

Accessibility notes: This tour will take place outdoors and will include optional biking on maintained trails/roads and walking short distances over steep, rocky, or uneven terrain.
