New Workshop: Identify 6 Wetland Ferns at Zurich Bog! (9/27/25)
Join us for a fun, FREE, hands-on FERN WORKSHOP perfect for families (with teens) and curious nature lovers of all ages at Zurich Bog- a unique natural area known for its diverse and unusual fern species.
You'll learn to identify six common wetland ferns through a short, engaging lesson, an interactive ID station, and a bog scavenger hunt where you’ll see ferns in various habitats.
This outdoor event is a great way for all ages to connect with nature, build observation skills, and discover how ferns play an important role in the ecosystem.
Level: Beginners and experienced are welcome! Location: Zurich Bog, 3809 Arcadia Zurich Norris Rd, Lyons, NY 14489
Date: Saturday 9/27/25 Time: 10:30 am - 1:30 pm Rain or Shine!
Schedule: 10:30- 11:15am Lesson, 11:15am Break for lunch, 11:45 am - 1:30 pm Scavenger hunt in the bog!
Bring: Please gather the following items to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit to the bog.
Bagged lunch/lunches, water, bug spray, raincoat, mosquito head-net, long-sleeved shirt and long pants, and hiking boots. The trail can be muddy. A botany loupe or magnifying glass is helpful but optional. We do have a few you can borrow for the event. We will also have some mesh bug head nets for sale, $6.50 each.
