Wear your yellow shirts, and 2.) sign up on the Sign-Up Genius or on the paper sign-up sheet in the narthex to contribute supplies by August 31st.

For Those Who Want All the Details:
Our Home Day of Service combines the ELCA’s God’s Work, Our Hand’s Day of Service and the Lyndhurst Community Home Days celebration. Wear your yellow shirt and join us for a day full of opportunities to love our neighbors, celebrate our community, and be Christlike examples to those whose lives we touch.
In the morning we will be making lunches for the residents of Project Hope for the Homeless www.projecthopeforthehomeless.org and after worship we will participate in and support the Lyndhurst Home Days Parade.
We need supplies and volunteers! Please visit the sign-up genius or the sign-up sheet in the narthex to contribute supplies for the lunches and the parade. Please sign up so that we don’t inadvertently make lunches composed entirely of chips! Place supplies on the church entryway table by Sunday, August 31st. Then join us at 9am in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday September 7th to kick off the Home Day of Service by assembling lunches and writing notes of encouragement.
After assembling lunches, we will gather for worship, then be sent out to our wider community as the Home Days Parade passes right in front of our building. There are two ways to celebrate community through the parade. Those who wish to walk in the parade will make their way to the staging area and enjoy a light lunch before the parade steps off. For those staying at Messiah, a light lunch will be provided after which we will pass out water and chalk the walk with encouraging messages.
After the festivities, we will continue to serve our neighbor by cleaning up our yard and surrounding areas.
