We invite you to an open lecture by Dr. Yuliya Yurchenko — Political Economist (University of Greenwich), Chair of the Critical Political Economy Research Network (CPERN; at the European Sociological Association). Scholar of human-nature relations and their institutionalised forms. Scholar in Residence at INDEX: Institute for Documentation and Exchange for November.
The lecture will focus on the methodological challenges and strategies for overcoming them inherent in researching the war, while also exploring the opportunities offered by the extensive level of documentation available. The discussion will emphasize the importance of creative data selection, intersectionality, interdisciplinarity, and non-typical triangulation of qualitative and quantitative sources. Dr. Yurchenko will also address the challenges posed to established research protocols and ethical standards. Empirically, the project is grounded in the author's research on the structures and mechanisms of the (re)production of inequality in wartime Ukraine.
