Hanging of the Greens Service

A "Hanging of the Greens" service is a Methodist tradition that formally begins the Christmas season by decorating the church sanctuary. It's a service of worship that includes scripture, readings, and music, where the decorations are brought in.

Why do we hold this service?

To prepare for Advent: It is an intentional way to prepare the church and the hearts of the congregation for the season of Advent and the birth of Jesus.

To educate and inspire: It teaches the deeper meaning, making the worship experience more meaningful.

For fellowship: It is a joyful event bringing the congregation to together.
