About Your Clinician – Shelby Dennis
Shelby Dennis is an IAABC Certified Equine Behaviour Consultant with over 25 years of hands-on horse experience across multiple disciplines. She holds a Certificate in Equine Science with distinction from the University of Guelph, where she specialized in equine behaviour.
Shelby’s background spans the Arabian breed circuit, hunter/jumpers, racetrack Thoroughbreds, and the gentling of feral horses. Her diverse experience includes retraining off-the-track Thoroughbreds, galloping active racehorses, and working with wild-caught Mustangs—including gentling two BLM Mustangs at liberty in a multi-acre pasture using fully reward-based methods.
Her approach is rooted in evidence-based, compassionate training that prioritizes trust, safety, and communication. Shelby specializes in reward-based methods, using positive reinforcement and systematic desensitization to address fear-based behaviours and build lasting, willing partnerships between horse and handler.
If you’re looking to deepen your understanding of horse behaviour, explore the benefits of rewards-based training, or work through behavioural challenges with your own horse in a supportive environment—this clinic is for you.
