The Texas Canoe & Kayak Racing Association invites you to participate in our Annual Spring San Marcos River Cleanup on Saturday, March 7.
TCKRA Section
Lower San Marcos River: Luling Dam to Palmetto State Park and Palmetto to Gonzales (only if we have enough volunteers--high level of experience needed for the Gonzo stretch)
Volunteers needed for:
On-water paddling cleanup
Bridge and shoreline cleanup support
Meeting Location & Schedule
7:30 AM — Meet at Zedler Park South (river right, opposite Zedler Mill)
Boats will be unloaded, vehicles shuttled to Palmetto State Park
Target launch time: 8:30–9:00 AM
On-land crew will also meet at the same location at 8:30am, be given trash bags, clean at the dam, drive upstream to Luling 90, then continue upstream to bridges as time allows.
Volunteer Perks
- Free Camping (Friday and/or Saturday night) for volunteers at:
(Call ahead to reserve and mention you are with the river cleanup.)
San Marcos River Retreat
- Volunteer Appreciation BBQ sponsored by the Texas Rivers Protection Association
5:00 PM at the Cowboy Chapel, San Marcos River Retreat
Equipment & Assistance
- Need a paddling partner or a boat? We will help coordinate.
- Not paddling? Bridge cleanup volunteers are essential and greatly appreciated.
- Don't forget a sack lunch.
