🥾 10 miles 🥾 Moderate 🥾 Leader: Andrew P 🥾
A lovely 10 mile loop taking in two of the wooded valleys to the north of Helmsley, with views across Ryedale
From the car park, we follow Borough Beck into Beck Dale and follow the track along the bottom of the wooded valley, crossing the meandering stream several times and gently climbing as we go. A short, but steep, climb brings us out onto farmland with wide views over the Ryedale valley.
We then head across to Riccal Dale (via a short, steep descent) and follow the undulating track through another wooded valley downhill, avoiding the plentiful pheasants that are raised here. The final stretch across farmland gives us great views of Helmsley's historic castle, before we retire to the pub or tearoom for some refreshments.
🅿️ Please park in the long stay car park (Cleveland Way Car Park) near the castle - about £6.50 for all day parking. Toilets are located by the car park entrance.
🚌 There are regular buses from York and Scarborough, which stop in the marketplace.
🐶 Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times
🥪 Please bring a packed lunch
