Unlock your creative potential and delve into the world of abstract expressionism and installation art in this three-day workshop with visual artist Merima Smajlović. Designed for adults of all genders (18+) and skill levels, this in-studio experience is your opportunity to discover new avenues for artistic freedom.
What You'll Explore
This workshop is a journey into self-expression. Merima will guide you through the process of channeling your emotions and inner states into visual art, encouraging you to move beyond traditional figurative boundaries. Through guided exercises and short video presentations, you will learn to:
Express inner states visually through abstract painting.
Explore the conceptual side of art through the development of an installation project.
Create depth and texture by layering a variety of materials, including acrylics, pastels, and found objects.
Embrace a bold and uninhibited approach by working on a large canvas (20x28 inches).
The Creative Process
You'll be encouraged to experiment with different tools and techniques, using everything from brushes and spatulas to nontraditional materials. Whether you choose to create a unique abstract painting or develop a detailed concept for an installation, the process is all about creative exploration. You'll also use paper as a planning tool for your future installation ideas, helping you visualize and refine your concepts. By the end of the session, you will have completed a one-of-a-kind artwork or a fully developed installation concept that is a true reflection of your artistic journey.
All necessary materials are provided, including a large canvas, acrylic paints, pastels, and a variety of tools. Just bring your passion and an open mind.
