Whilst we were putting the finishing touches on the tree last week we found a note from a chap called Kris Kringle:

Dear WAL lads,
I had heard from the elven kind
That you had something grand in mind
I recalled your efforts from last year
As the elves gently whispered in mine ear
"Santa; this year's no exception and much like those bygone
A great distance away from North Pole;
a shimmering beacon shone
The WAL lads, they really do admire
A well lit tree and a cheerful shire!
Filled with laughter, joy and cheer
Santa you must go and see for yourself
They even said they'll shout ya a beer!"
So I harnessed up Rudolph and the gang
And off we went with a thundering bang!
Through the thick of night and over velvet snow
My sled flew high and far and then swooped in low
To allow my bespectacled eyes to see
The magnificence that is
The Wellington Arborists Christmas Tree
All across the land there are trees aplenty
But with this effort; you boys deserve a shanty!
To Mrs. Clause we hurried home with a story to tell
Knowing for certain; the Christmas spirit is alive and well!
Ho ho ho!
Kris Kringle

Now that we have Santa's blessing we'll be officially lighting up the tree with a countdown at nightfall (around 9pm) this Friday 5th of December from 5:30pm onwards. If the weather turns we will push the event out to Saturday or worst case Sunday - hopefully MetService New Zealand can turn it on for us. The tree is on Heath Grove in Waiwhetu, Lower Hutt
There will be a free sausage sizzle and sweets, two climbing stations for kids (fully supervised).
This years decorations are dedicated to the Child Cancer Foundation. Any donations are welcome and greatly appreciated.
See you then folks.
