Join us as we walk you through two exciting and vibrant new shows here at The Dowse.
Wing and a Prayer blends humour with reverence, with fast food fountains and a holy water vending machine. Featuring works by Isabella Lepoamo, Sacha Lees, Scott Eady, Sian Torrington and Sophia Smolenski, join curators Chelsea Nichols and Milly Mitchell-Anyon as they explore the tension between adaptation and authenticity alongside some of the artists.
SOFTY is an exhibition of textile works from The Dowse’s permanent collection, including recent acquisitions, revealing The Dowse’s softer side, and our steadfast commitment to collecting craft. Milly and Chelsea will talk you through the pieces in the show, as well as give a wider view on how these pieces fit into The Dowse Collection. With works by Gordon Crook, Malcolm Harrison, Areez Katki, Maungarongo Te Kawa, Turumeke Harrington, Jakob Rowlinson, Daegan Wells and Steven Junil Park, SOFTY showcases the variety of textiles collected by The Dowse.
