About the event

Fiend and Friends
Join WordPlay at the Inn at Lost River for this fiendishly fun celebration of the release of Fiend, the latest horror novel by our neighbor and friend Alma Katsu. Enjoy light snacks and a cash bar as Alma discusses Fiend with her friend and fellow author Louis Bayard. There will be plenty of time for conversation, Q&A, and book signing, with books by both authors available for purchase at the event.

Alma Katsu is the author of eight novels, most recently Red London, The Fervor, Red Widow, and The Deep. She is widely considered the queen of high-concept horror, and Fiend is no exception, taking a filthy-rich, morally-challenged family and imagining something even more violent and terrifying at the heart of their corruption. Succession is top of mind these days, and readers will love this disturbing tale about an all-powerful family with an ancient evil under its thumb.

Prior to the publication of her first novel, Alma had a 35-year long career as a senior intelligence analyst for several U.S. agencies, including the CIA and NSA, as well as RAND. She lives in the Lost River area with her husband and is a contributing reviewer for the Washington Post.

Louis Bayard is the critically acclaimed author of nine historical novels, including his most recent The Wildes: A Novel in Five Acts, which brings Oscar Wilde’s wife Constance and their two sons out from the shadows of history and creates a vivid and poignant story of secrets, loss, and love. Louis also wrote The Pale Blue Eye, which was adapted into the global #1 Netflix release starring Christian Bale, and his articles and reviews have appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, Salon, and the Paris Review.

The Inn at Lost River is located at 7015 State Road 259 in Lost River. The event is open to all; no registration required. For more information, email aW5mbyB8IHdvcmRwbGF5d3YgISBjb20=.
