7th House Screeings is proud to welcome Queer Diaspora, the screening series programmed and hosted by filmmaker Gregorio Davila (UNIDAD: GAY AND LESBIAN LATINOS UNIDOS), for a very special evening as Davila presents his award-winning, stirring, and vital documentary L.A. A QUEER HISTORY!
Winner of multiple awards, including the 2022 MIPCOM Diversify Award at Cannes, Davila traces the rich, complex, and often overlooked LGBTQ+ history of Los Angeles, pre-Stonewall. From the hidden barrooms of the 1920s to the front lines of the AIDS crisis, L.A. A Queer History uncovers the untold stories of the LGBTQ+ individuals who shaped Los Angeles—and in doing so, helped shape the world.
Through rare archival footage, intimate interviews, and powerful storytelling, L.A. A Queer History celebrates the resilience, creativity, and courage that transformed a city once known for silence into a beacon of progress.
Don’t miss this moving chronicle of resistance, joy, and pride that reminds us how far we’ve come—and how much further we can go.
Dir. Gregorio Davila, 2016, 120 mins, United States, English, Digital.
