QUEER ECOLOGY--the study of everything in nature that subverts western cultural expectations about how the world *should* work--is here to help us reconnect to the urban ecological landscape and reimagine our relationship to nature, eachother, and ourselves.
The walk is led by naturalist and environmental educator Jason Wise (aka ) to talk about the beautiful rainbow of diversity found in nature that enables so many unique ecosystemson this planet not just to survive, but to thrive. Including plants that have evolved countless ways to create a connected ecosystem and over 1500 species that have been documented engaging in homosexual behavior!
The natural world does not subscribe to any particular human culture, it exists as a beautifully diverse tapestry of ways to survive and thrive--individualistic or communal; patriarchal or matriarchal; heterosexual, homosexual, or in the case of most flowers, bisexual. We will observe, share, and learn about nature in ways that reflect our own diversity, and connect to it on a whole new beautiful level.
