LUUP service this Friday is different (and very special) with three parts - first, our Solstice Circle, followed by supper, then an outing to Roosevelt Park for the Longmont lights - Here's the details! Hope to see you!
December 12 at 5:30: Solstice Ceremony - led by Carolyn Elliot
Celebrate Yule, also known as the Winter Solstice, with us on Friday, December 12th , at 5:30 p.m. at our usual place, the United Church of Christ in Longmont. It’s a time to give thanks to Mother Earth and Father Sky for the shift from the waning sun to the waxing sun as the days grow longer. Do you know where the word “Yule” came from? Come find out. In the ceremony, we’ll
hear a bit of history, call in the four directions, express some of our gratitudes, and then release the directions and open the sacred circle. Our circle will be held in the gallery area.
Supper will follow the Solstice Circle
Our supper will be buffet style and informal, in our usual table area.
Brief Biography of Carolyn Elliott:
Although raised in the Episcopal church, Carolyn began questioning the beliefs and practices in her teens (the 1960s), many decades ago. She realized Mother Earth provides the resources to feed, clothe, and shelter us. With that awareness, she eventually decided to pay respect to Mother Earth by creating a Pagan group in the early 2010s, as well as the eight sabbat
ceremonies that follow the ancient Celtic Wheel of the Year. Her daughter even joined. With compassion and respect for all beings, animate and inanimate, Carolyn, as a good witch, tries to live a life that honors Mother Earth and Father Sky at all times. Blessed be.
