Let’s celebrate the peak of summer under the stars on our expansive Main Deck! We’ll treat you to a mini-art exhibit and live acts by our August sailors: Curator’s Presentation by Cristina Pizzuto (Italy); Artist Talk by Painter Lars Fredriksson (Sweden) and a Spoken Word Performance by Actress Ellaney Hayden (UK). At the end of the evening, another Multimedia Music Set by Singing Cellist, Tyr Jami, aka Syngja (Canada).
There is no cover charge, but make sure to bring some cash to make it rain on our featured artists -- tipping the talent is part of the fun!
ELLANEY HAYDEN
An actress/ writer residing in Manchester, United Kingdom:
“Throughout 2025 I struggled with sleep. Quite aggressively.
While up in that part of the evening where all sorts of fears & ideas can come through the window I wrote a collection of stories titled ‘The Bed Series’.
Tales which articulate what has summoned me into this current spell of midnight fight or flight and what will help me land safely back to 40 winks of peace.
With the generosity of loved ones and strangers lending kind words of advice I married my thoughts and theirs together to bring you some poetic monologues.
Please join me in a journey of taking back the pilot’s seat."
TYR JAMI, aka SYNGJA
Syngja is the solo electronic music and visuals project of Montréal-based cellist, producer, visual artist, and singer Tyr Jami. Blending hypnotic loops, cello, and voice with audio-reactive visuals, her work connects the present with ancestral memory, drawing inspiration from her Icelandic heritage. Syngja’s beat-based experimental pop has been featured at Suoni per il Popolo (Montréal), NXNE, Sled Island, and a 2022 Mothership NYC residency, and has been described as “timeless and utterly original” (AUX), “a bewildered state of bliss” (Noisey), and “Bjork and Arthur Russell hanging out, getting weird” (Silent Shout).
LARS FREDRIKSSON
Lars Fredriksson is a self-taught painter from Malmö, Sweden, currently on his second residency at Mothership NYC. His work has been exhibited in Berlin, Germany; Warrington, UK; Madrid, Spain; and at various locations throughout Sweden. Over the past four years,, he has held art residencies in Galway, Ireland; Korpo, Finland; Milan, Italy; and also in the Stockholm archipelago, Sweden; and on the Swedish High Coast. For this artist salon, both new paintings and some installation photos will be on display inside the Engine Room.
CRISTINA PIZZUTO
Born in Italy, Cristina Pizzuto is a contemporary art historian and curator whose research focuses on underrepresented identities. Through her curatorial practice, Cristina seeks to highlight what has historically been hidden in the arts, such as identities and bodies that position themselves outside the male, white, straight, cisgender equation. She holds a Master of Music from the Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory of Music in Palermo and a Master's Degree in History of Arts and Conservation of Artistic Heritage from the Ca' Foscari University of Venice.
Cristina will talk to us about the Pick a Card, Any Card traveling exhibition project, whose first installation took place at Art Gotham in Manhattan a couple of weeks ago. Marking Mothership NYC’s 20th anniversary in 2025, this Tarot-themed show unites 25 Mothershipper artists jointly representing 20 countries.
