Weaving Workshop

Come join Bree Dickson, at Plantiitas for a tapestry weaving workshop! This workshop, led by multidisciplinary artist Bree Dickson, aims to share the exciting world of textiles and fiber arts with students and teach them the fundamentals of tapestry weaving on a cardboard loom.

No prior knowledge is necessary; beginners of all ages are encouraged to join!

The basic techniques that you will learn will equip you with the skills to make wall hangings, coasters, bookmarks and whatever other yarn based goodies you can think of!

All materials will be provided: cardboard looms, tapestry needles, yarn and supplementary digital instructions; all of which can be taken home after the workshop.

Feel free to bring extra strips of any material of your choosing to weave with!

Agenda:

• Brief intro to weaving + overview of its history and uses (5 -10 min)
• Short writing prompt on what students value to get creativity flowing (5 min)
• Volunteered sharing of writing (5-10 min)
• Weaving instruction + independent weaving with guided assistance (2-2.5 hours)
