Learn how to dance the Hustle!
This class is for beginners who want to learn from scratch. The Hustle began in the Bronx's Latin communities in the 70s, and exploded in popularity as it spread from underground clubs to mainstream culture, marking a significant shift in how people experienced music and movement.
The rise of disco music, dance competitions, and the influence of pop culture, particularly films like Saturday Night Fever, helped elevate the Hustle to global recognition. In 1977, John Travolta’s snazzy dance moves in the film catapulted the Hustle to the forefront, but there’s a whole lot more to this famous “Disco” dance than you might think.
Graceful and rhythmic, the modern Hustle is a perfect partner dance for weddings and parties and can be danced to many types of music. Learn the basics at our dance classes every other Wednesday from 7-8 pm. Come solo or with a partner; $20 per person.
