Science Café on the Coast will host “Ask a Mortician: Embalming” on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 6:00 pm at USM's Gulf Coast Library. Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Homes' Lynn Cozart, Embalmer and Licensed Funeral Director, and Justin Ireland, Care Center Manager and Licensed Funeral Service Practitioner, will share the history and science behind embalming and the art of caring for the deceased. Following the presentation, there will be an open Q&A panel where you are invited to ask your questions, no matter how small or strange. Come learn, ask, and demystify one of humanity's oldest practices!
This event offers those with minimal background in science the chance to meet and discuss scientific issues in a relaxed social setting. Admission is free and open to the public with light refreshments available.
