Virgo season has begun, & we present to you a long overdue listening session of Beyonće's 2003 album 'Dangerously In Love'.
Beyoncé's heavily anticipated debut solo album, released on June 24, 2003, after gaining widespread fame as a member of Destiny's Child. The album marked a major departure from the group, with her vocals on display, mature themes, and distinct sound. A blend of R&B, pop, hip hop, and soul, Dangerously in Love was both critically and commercially successful, establishing Beyoncé as a true force in the music industry.
The album explores themes of love, passion, heartbreak, and empowerment, drawing from her personal experiences and new relationship with Jay-Z. Earning five Grammy Awards and widespread praise for its innovation and versatility, this is a certified 00's classic. We will be listening to an OG 2003 pressing of the album on our Hi-Fi Sound System the way it was originally intended to.
To open up the night, we invite Good Luck Vinyl Club member FRIKI FRAN. Chef/DJ rocking clubs & kitchen from CDMX to LA to rock an all-vinyl set of some dancefloor gems from her personal collection of records.
We will be also be joined by the Slow Jamz crew for this session. Where they will be holding down the decks before & after the album, spinning essential R&B cuts all night. Founded in 2017 right here in the LBC, Slow Jamz represents a community same as us, all rooted in the love for music, inspiring us to play the records we want & how it should be heard.
