Nocturne by In Vino Veritas x Cicek Gallery

In Vino Veritas will host the group exhibition Nocturne, curated by Berfin Cicek and presented by Cicek Gallery. Bringing together four artists working across painting, photography, drawing and installation, the exhibition explores the emotional charge of darkness, solitude and the quiet spaces where the city and the human body intersect.

Nocturne gathers artists whose practices circle the moments between darkness and light. Though varied in medium, the works share an atmosphere, a sense of stillness, introspection and suspended time.

Shawn Lee’s urban paintings drift through dim alleys and archways, capturing a city at its most contemplative. His muted palette and softened edges blur the line between observation and memory, transforming architecture into a vessel for mood.

Lydia Cecil’s figurative drawings turn inward, tracing the intense vulnerability of the human form. Her subjects appear caught in intimate, private gestures, reaching, twisting or withdrawing, rendered with a sensitivity that reveals their interior states.

Evgeniya Strygina’s black-and-white photographs expose the geometry and scale of the built world. Figures appear small and transient against vast structures, caught in passing, hinting at the anonymity of urban existence.

Shelley Kirkwood’s delicately constructed works emerge from the quiet rhythms of the natural world. Working with botanical forms, she arranges petals and organic fragments into meditative constellations that echo the cycles of dusk, bloom and renewal. Her pieces introduce a nocturnal lyricism – a reminder that darkness is not only an urban condition but also a space where nature recalibrates, breathes and becomes.

Together, the four artists create a dialogue about presence and absence, the city and the self, the organic and the built and the poetry of what is half-seen. Nocturne is an atmospheric meditation on shadow, space and the quiet stories that emerge when the noise of the day falls away.
