In this lecture, Andrew will explore the evolution of Waugh Thistleton Architects’ ethos, from its early commitment to responsible design to its position today as a leader in low-carbon architecture. He will discuss how the practice’s focus on material intelligence, timber innovation and occupant-centred design has shaped recent work across housing, workplaces and cultural buildings. The work illustrates how a design philosophy grounded in environmental responsibility can deliver inventive, humane and impactful architecture.
Andrew is co-founder of Waugh Thistleton Architects, a London practice known for pioneering low-carbon design and leading the use of engineered timber. His work spans housing, cultural and mixed-use projects internationally, supported by research and advocacy focused on reducing embodied carbon and creating architecture that is thoughtful, humane and climate-aware.
This event will take place in person in the AA Lecture Hall and will also be live-streamed here.
You can also watch the Sustainable Environmental Design Jury from 2pm here.
