Have you ever dreamed of writing your own cookbook? Or maybe you’ve wanted to capture your family’s recipes before they’re lost to time?
Join Chicago-based cookbook author Anupy Singla and Doug Seibold, president of Agate Publishing, for an afternoon at Barbara’s Bookstore.
Anupy began her cookbook-writing journey in 2010 with The Indian Slow Cooker, a runaway success. Since then, she has written four cookbooks and launched her own spice and sauce line, Indian As Apple Pie.
In conversation with Doug, Anupy will share how preserving her family’s recipes became a way of preserving her culture, her roots, and her story. Together, they’ll talk about:
✨ Why preserving family recipes matters — for you and future generations
✨ How to start documenting and organizing your own family’s food traditions
✨ Tips on writing, publishing, and bringing your ideas to life
Whether you’ve been dreaming of writing a cookbook or simply want to record your family’s food heritage, this event is a perfect way to get started — and a meaningful family project as the holidays approach.
