Who Is Mahavatar Babaji?
1. The “Deathless” or Immortal Yogi
According to yogic tradition—especially as shared by Paramahansa Yogananda in Autobiography of a Yogi—Mahavatar Babaji is said to have maintained a physical form for centuries, appearing only to advanced seekers and disciples. He embodies mastery over life force (prana) and matter, able to materialize or dematerialize his body at will.
2. Guardian of Kriya Yoga
Babaji is often credited with reviving the ancient science of Kriya Yoga, a sacred practice designed to accelerate spiritual evolution through breath, energy control, and meditation. He initiated Lahiri Mahasaya in the 1800s, which led to the modern Kriya Yoga lineage.
3. A Universal Master Beyond Religion
Although rooted in yogic tradition, Babaji transcends any one religion. He is regarded as a cosmic guide who supports humanity’s evolution, awakening, and heart-centered consciousness.
