Learn about preserving family recipes and beyond with Chicago-based cookbook author Anupy Singla and Doug Seibold, president of Agate Publishing in Evanston.
Anupy began her cookbook-writing journey in 2010 with The Indian Slow Cooker, a runaway success. She has now written four cookbooks, all with Agate, and founded a spice and sauce line under Indian As Apple Pie.
Born in India and raised in Pennsylvania, Anupy spent summers visiting her extended family in Punjab, learning how to cook from her paternal grandfather, who was from a village. Anupy was a morning television reporter when her daughters were born, and she realized more than ever how important it was to preserve her roots for her family and beyond. The easiest way she knew how was to log her family recipes and write about them. This is where Agate comes in.
She approached Agate, proposed the idea for her first cookbook, and an amazing relationship was born. At this event, you’ll not only learn more about Anupy’s journey, but also gain practical insights on how to preserve and express your own family’s food heritage. Want to create your own book? Anupy and Doug will share tips on the writing and publishing process, from idea to proposal to finished book. This is a perfect family project for the holidays!
