High density plantings create quick plant communities for habitat restoration, erosion control, water quality improvement and increased biodiversity. The trees planted this way grow 10x faster, require 10x less watering, and secure 30x more carbon than other types of plantings. Wilson Alvarez, local woodland steward and permaculture educator, will use the 2023 planting at Nixon Park as an example to discuss all the benefits and how-to plant your own rapid reforestation planting. $10 per participant. Designed for teens and adults.

This program meets that the Hollow Creek Greenway Parking lot of Nixon County Park (not at the nature center). The nearest restroom is in the parking lot at the nature center. Please bring your own water bottle and lawn chair/camp chair.
