FAQ
• Wait… what’s happening?
o Various campus organizations, like Theatre, Dance, Choir, Band, Orchestra, H.O.S.A, Culinary, SpEd, etc., are setting up booths around the Gilmore area. They will be decorated to fit the Renaissance Faire theme, and will be selling various foods, doing crafts and activities, selling spirit items, performing, and other things you might find at any other Ren Fair, to raise funds for their organizations.
o Admission Is Free, but the individual foods and activities will cost $10 or less. The idea is to for those organizations to keep your cost low, so you can help support as many organizations as possible by visiting their booths and buying things from them.
o Typical booths might be: tacos and elote, popcorn or kettle corn, arts and crafts, mocktails, face painting, palm-reading and tarot, photo ops, sodas, various carnival/fair games, and, too many more to list.
• Ok, what ages are appropriate?
o We are aiming for the whole fair to be family-friendly, but certain performing acts and activities may be geared towards high-school ages, and adults. We’ll try to keep it to PG-13, and label or warn you about those things in advance.
• Great! I’m an experienced Rennie! Can I wear my costume/garb/gear?
o Yes! However, since this is still a school, there are some different rules. Period costumes, clothing, props, etc., are appropriate, as well as sword-and-sorcery-type fantasy costumes. Video game, DnD, and other fantasy-type clothing can be appropriate as well, as long as it fits the following:
o It MUST be school-appropriate. It must fit the current dress code, covering all designated skin and appropriate body parts.
o It MUST not contain messages that would otherwise not be considered school appropriate, including violence, drugs, alcohol, etc.
o Prop/replica weapons MUST BE PEACE TIED, and cannot be used for horseplay, combat, or any other threatening actions/gestures. Bows must NOT have arrows, quivers must be empty; crossbows must NOT have bolts. Yes, this applies to children’s toys with suction cups and “safety tips” as well.
o Real firearms are prohibited by law from being on district-owned property, regardless of concealed-carry, or any other permits. Prop/replica firearms must still have the orange safety-tip on the end, and must NOT actually fire projectiles (don’t bring the projectiles).
o Police will be on hand inspecting weapons at the gates. Everyone is subject to search while on district-owned property.
