Aligning with Rotary's December theme of Disease Prevention and Treatment Month, we're glad to welcome speaker Jenny Wells, Pharmacist-in-Charge at the Pharmacy at Wellington.
Born and raised in Arkansas, Jenny went to Arkansas High School in Texarkana. She pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Arkansas before relocating to Little Rock, where she earned her Pharm.D. from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in 2013.
As The Pharmacy at Wellington’s medication therapy management (MTM) pharmacist and an adjunct faculty member for UAMS and the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM), Jenny plays a crucial role in maintaining exemplary pharmacy practices and patient care standards.
At The Pharmacy at Wellington, Jenny finds profound satisfaction in fostering personal connections with the community -- a contrast to her previous experience at larger chain pharmacies. She values the sense of work family at Wellington, noting how the emphasis on community engagement visibly enhances customer satisfaction.
In addition to her retail pharmacy responsibilities, Jenny is a recognized specialist in consultant pharmacy, focusing on outpatient surgery centers. She has delivered numerous presentations on topics ranging from pain management to women's health.
Jenny was awarded the 2024 Innovative Pharmacist of the Year Award by the Arkansas Pharmacists Association. She was also featured in the National Community Pharmacists Association's August 2024 issue of America's Pharmacist magazine. Read the story here.
Holding credentials to prescribe oral contraceptives underscores Jenny's dedication to women's health and her broader commitment to providing holistic pharmaceutical care. Her recent focus is on promoting oral contraceptive prescribing in Arkansas, advocating for education among her peers for them to practice at the top of their licensure.
Jenny lives in Little Rock with her husband, their two children, their Dalmatian, and their cat.
