ALA REACH: Coaching Through Inquiry to Develop Shared Understanding

Join us on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Hilton Garden Inn in North Little Rock for a full-day, in-person ALA REACH learning experience focused on coaching through collaborative inquiry to build shared understanding and leadership coherence.

As we partner with Dr. Peter DeWitt, leadership teams, instructional coaches, building leaders, and teacher leaders will engage in structured collaborative inquiry alongside peers from across schools and districts. Grounded in research and real-world practice, this session centers on the common challenges leaders face and how Instructional Leadership Collectives can strengthen leadership impact and student outcomes.

Prior to the session, participants will complete a brief survey identifying a current problem of practice. During the workshop, participants will be placed into Instructional Leadership Collectives, small groups focused on shared themes. Through guided protocols and collective inquiry, teams will refine their problem of practice, identify one clear priority, and develop an actionable If/Then/So That theory of action aligned to student outcomes. Participants will define success criteria, plan multiple measures to monitor progress, and schedule short-cycle reflection and next steps—leaving with a coherent, practical plan ready for immediate implementation.

Whether you are new to coaching or a seasoned leader, this interactive workshop provides practical tools, shared learning, and collaborative structures that support both student and adult learning.

This is a FREE, in-person ALA REACH session. Registration is required, and seating is limited. professional practice.

Participants will be able to:

• Explain why Instructional Leadership Collectives focused on a shared theme strengthen leadership impact.
• Identify one clear priority from a current problem of practice using multiple measures of data, including demographics, perceptions, student learning, and school processes.
• Develop an If/Then/So That theory of action aligned to student outcomes and success criteria.
• Define success criteria and plan for evidence of impact using leading and lagging indicators connected to the priority.
• Apply inquiry protocols that build trust, clarity, and coherence across leadership teams.
• Plan short-cycle reflection and next steps to evaluate impact on student and adult learning.

Dr. Peter DeWitt, an award-winning author and leadership coach, will lead this skill-building and strategy-enhanced workshop. DeWitt is a former teacher and principal turned author, presenter, and leadership coach who works with state, national, and global educational leaders, aspiring leaders, and networks.
