We want to hear from you!
In the Church of the Brethren, we use certain terms to describe the principles of our faith. Terms like: no creed but the New Testament as our rule of faith, simple living, community, service, and shalom. We often use these as shorthand, not fully explaining what we mean by these words. This can easily lead to some confusion when two or three of us use a term in very different ways.
Even our denominational tagline can be interpreted in a variety of ways, “Continuing the work of Jesus: Peacefully, Simply, Together.” With the peace of Jesus in your heart, or making peace in the world, or both? Living simply, simple worship, only doing simple tasks, or . . .???
To help give further shape to our strategic visioning, everyone is encouraged to attend a series of round table discussions in September, October, and November. Attend one or attend all. During these round table discussions, everyone will have an opportunity to share how they understand these terms we use to express our faith. Below are a list of the core values we will discuss. Read more about them on our website:

Each 60-90 minute session will involve only one of the core values. Childcare is available. Sign-up sheets for the first two sessions will be on the high-top table in the Gathering Area, on the podium in the Contemporary Service, and in each Sunday School classroom. You may sign-up for one or both sessions.
Refreshments will be provided. Every other Sunday at 3pm in the Family Life Center beginning Sept 14. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Jim or Udo Sommerhoff at
