What to expect from this workshop?
Unwind, laugh, and unlock your creativity. This comedy writing workshop is designed to help you turn everyday moments into punchlines. Whether you’ve never written a joke before or you’ve secretly been testing material on your dog, this is your space to play, explore, and write freely..zero pressure, maximum laughs! ;)
About the workshop:
When was the last time you allowed yourself to be fully silly, on purpose? We'll explore the basics of comedy writing through playful exercises, group interaction, and clear joke-writing tools.
You’ll learn how comedians think, how jokes are built, and how you can find comedy in your own life (yes, even that moment, especially that moment).
There are no rules, no “being funny on command,” and absolutely no need for comedy experience. All you need is curiosity, a willingness to try, and maybe the courage to laugh at yourself just a little.
You will learn:
🎭 4 Core Joke Techniques
Learn simple, powerful tools used by comedians to create punchlines and structure jokes.
✍️ Creative and playful writing prompts
Let go of perfection and experiment with your comedic voice.
😂 A friendly, collaborative atmosphere
In this workshop, laughter is the language and everyone is welcome.
🎤 Hands-on practice
Try your jokes out loud (only if you want to!) and see them come to life
Your Host: Thom Cock
Thom Cock is a comedian, writer, laughter therapist, and the founder of Fall in Laugh, a project that has brought joy to more than 60,000 people and 780 companies around the world.
Born in Zaire, raised in Belgium, shaped by stages from Paris to Montréal, Thom has spent his life exploring humor and laughter as universal languages, from one-man shows to NGO work using laughter as therapy.
His approach:
Comedy isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being honest, curious, and a little ridiculous on purpose. A tiny anecdote (true and slightly embarrassing):
Thom's very first time on stage was in Montréal. He thought he was doing a casual open mic in a basement with 12 people, a brick wall, and a tired microphone. He ended up walking onto a 300-seat theatre, filmed by national TV, recorded by national radio, and somehow.. miraculously..he survived. You can even find it on YouTube.
That’s when he learned the first rule of comedy: You’re never ready. Do it anyway.
Today, Thom teaches people how to find humor in their stories, their mistakes, their humanity… and sometimes in their pain (the fun kind).
