Even in winter, trees bring a beautiful and striking presence to the landscape. With leaves, flowers and fruit gone, it can feel harder to tell one from the next but there are still plenty of clues if you know where to look.
Join this practical workshop with Guy Petheram and learn how to identify native trees in the English countryside using buds, bark, twigs and overall shape. As your confidence grows, your winter walks will start to reveal far more detail. Along the way, Guy will also share some of the natural and cultural history behind the species you meet.
We will begin indoors for around 1 to 1.5 hours then head out into the park and woodland for a further 1.5 to 2 hours. Expect uneven paths that may be squelchy underfoot and we will be outside whatever the weather, so warm layers and sturdy footwear are essential.
No prior knowledge needed, just a warm coat and boots.
Tea and coffee provided.
Saturday 7 February, 10am – 1.30pm (finish time is approximate)
Booking essential, £30 per person
