Join us for a full day of family-friendly outdoor fun, learning, and exploration at this nature-themed community event! The day kicks off at 9:00 a.m. with the Prairie Run and Ramble a fun run/walk (advance registration required), followed by a wide variety of engaging activities for all ages.
Highlights include community free tree give-a-away, educational workshops such as composting and learning about bison and prairie plants, hands-on nature experiences like canoeing (weather dependent), guided nature walks, and up-close animal meet-and-greets featuring turtles and snakes. Young children can enjoy interactive story times and insect exploration activities.
Other attractions throughout the day include wagon rides (tickets can be purchased onsite day of the event), a prairie walking tour, yard games, and a historical tour of local landmarks. With activities running from morning through late afternoon, there's something for everyone to enjoy while connecting with nature and local history.
The Pioneers Park Nature Center includes 668 acres of tallgrass prairie, two interpretive facilities, one programming building, woodlands, wetlands, various gardens, and a stream. The more than eight miles of hiking trails wind through various habitats and take visitors past non-releasable raptor exhibits and a small herd of bison.
Free event. No cost, donations are welcome.
