Source-of-Income Protections in Practice: A Conversation with LCHR & LHA
The HOPE Committee — a subcommittee of the Lincoln Homeless Coalition — is partnering with the Lincoln Commission on Human Rights (LCHR) and the Lincoln Housing Authority (LHA) to host an informational session on Lincoln’s new source-of-income protections. This event is designed for landlords, property managers, and housing providers to learn about their responsibilities under the law, understand how voucher processes work, and know what to expect during inspections. Representatives from LCHR and LHA will be on hand to answer questions.
Why this matters:
In May 2025, Lincoln voters approved adding lawful source of income as a protected class under city law. It is now illegal to deny housing, impose different terms, or otherwise discriminate against someone because of how they pay rent — whether that’s through a Housing Choice Voucher, disability benefits, Social Security, or other lawful income sources.
This session will give you the tools, information, and contacts you need to stay compliant and informed. RSVP encouraged: bit.ly/SOI-RSVP
