How do handle someone who lies ALL THE TIME?
Someone who maybe doesn’t deserve to go to jail….but maybe does…. and it’s your psychological profiling report that will inform the judge’s decision.
How can you untangle the truth from the lies that have tricked so many people before you? And what do you do when you start to see life from the liar’s point of view? IF that is their point of view, of course.
Chloe is undoubtedly in trouble. She’s never been happy with one life and now the opportunity to change to another might, rather inconveniently, be taken away.
Emma is sort of happy with her life but is beginning to question even that. How can she write the profile that defines Chloe when she cannot tell what is real and what is fiction? When Chloe is twisting both her own and Emma’s realities? Does Chloe lie because she is a victim, or because she is a villain? How to tell?
Honestly is both dark and humorous and based on a true story, ironically. The play takes a sideways look at what value we place on honesty in the 21st century. Isn’t it much easier to live inside a version of the truth that is comfortable and, if you don’t like it, simply move on?
