Fundamentals of Equine Acute Trauma

Join us to boost your confidence in managing wounds, assessing septic joints and undertaking suturing techniques.

Prior to the practical day you will have access to online lectures covering the theory so we can get hands-on at Pool House Equine Hospital. The online lectures will cover euthanasia, wounds, the recumbent horse and synovial sepsis and what to consider if the horse is unable to move.

Small group practical sessions on 2 October will:

- discuss when to close a wound, how to close it and what to use
- teach you tension-relieving suture patterns and techniques
- develop your bandaging techniques
- discuss how and when a cast or bandage should be applied
- discuss what dressings should be used
- go through synoviocentesis methods for coffin joints, fetlock and digital flexor tendon sheath
