Join Dr Shirley-Anne Godfrey for this yearβs Frances Browne Lecture, an evening celebrating the life, imagination and lasting influence of Donegalβs βBlind Poetess of Ulster.β
Shirley-Anne is a Stranorlar native who grew up in the very streets that Frances and her family worked and played.
Drawing on her PhD research, Shirley-Anne will explore the extraordinary range of Browneβs writing β from poetry and prose to childrenβs tales β and reveal why her work was far more radical and visionary than many of her Victorian contemporaries.
Featuring fresh insights into Grannyβs Wonderful Chair and the growing field of βBrowne Studies,β this accessible lecture promises to reframe one of Irelandβs most remarkable literary voices.
