The world of implantable hearing devices - cochlear implants will be explored. How these technologies work, how they have been able to prevent lifelong deafness in children born without hearing, which adults might be a candidate, and what life is like as a cochlear implant user will be detailed. Drawing on clinical experience and fellowship training in cochlear implants, the presenter will demystify the process of assessment, referral, and post-implant care.
Speaker: Dr. Glenn Hole
Glenn is a published researcher interested in psychoacoustics, hearing aid technology, tinnitus, and hyperacusis. He holds a Doctor of Audiology AuD degree from Salus University, Pennsylvania, Bachelor of Science Degree in Audiology from Bristol University in the UK, an Advanced Studies Certification in Tinnitus and Hyperacusis, and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Audiology from Salus University. Outside work, Glenn enjoys fitness, music, hiking, camping, and spending time with his wife and three young children.
