What is BHV Training (Emergency Response Training)
BHV training, or Emergency Response Training, is a course designed to prepare employees to act effectively in case of emergencies at the workplace. These emergencies can include fires, accidents, sudden illness, or evacuations. In many countries, including the Netherlands, it is a legal requirement for employers to ensure that there are trained emergency response officers (EROs) present in the workplace.
During the training, participants learn how to:
Provide first aid and basic life support (such as CPR)
Evacuate buildings safely and guide others to safety
Use fire extinguishers and manage small fires
Communicate with professional emergency services
The goal of the training is to improve safety in the workplace by ensuring that someone on site can take immediate action before professional help arrives.
