On Sunday, October 19th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater “Sunday Essentials” series makes you an offer you can’t refuse, with a 35mm screening of Francis Ford Coppola’s THE GODFATHER (1972).
“Sunday Essentials” is a series of single-feature 35mm presentations highlighting classics from all genres, with themed trailers and introductions by authors and film scholars, providing context and insight into the films screened.
One of the most iconic films of the 1970s, and of all time, THE GODFATHER presents an intimate portrait of the Corleones, an Italian-American family of affluence and influence in the world of organized crime, and how their internal dynamics play out across a decade of shifting allegiances, deals, double-crosses, and murder.
Adapted from Mario Puzo’s novel, the film launched a phenomenon…two sequels, endless pop culture references, imitations and parodies, yet still stands as one of the most revered and quotable motion pictures in history.
Featuring legendary performances by Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, John Cazale, and Talia Shire.
